The Dark and Dangerous Gifts of Delores Mackenzie, by Yvonne Banham - Kirsty

Delores is no ordinary girl. She can see into the ghostly realm and spent her childhood with some friendly Bòcans, until now. Now she is being chased by some unkind spirits, and it's about time she did something about it before anyone gets hurt.

This YA book is full of ghostly fun and mystical characters. I loved the fact that all the characters have their own secrets to hide and it's up to Delores to work out who is a friend and who is a foe.

A quick paced and enjoyable book filled with lots of spooky mysteries by a new author on the scene who writes brilliantly, keeps the story moving and keeps the reader engaged with dark twists and turns. A great introduction into the spooky world of horror writing for the brave young adult readers among us. Ghost, ghouls and a touch of romance, what's not to love?
