Let’s Play Murder, by Kesia Lupo - Kelly

The line between reality and ultra realistic VR is getting thinner by the day, and Veronica refuses to go back to it… with the only exception being for the sake of her younger brother Max. When a harmless game of hide and seek results in her getting hijacked into a notorious dark web VR called “The Game”, she sees a chance to get money for the experimental treatment her terminally ill brother needs.

She quickly finds she’s not alone, and the other players have secrets and reasons of their own for wanting the prize. But when a dangerous distortion starts warping the game and Veronica’s past surfaces from the digital depths, can she and the other players band together and escape the game before the corruption gets them? And just how far are they prepared to go?

This is book feels like Cludo meets the digital age! It captures the thrills and illicit nature of the deep web. The technology in the book feels very real, which lends itself to the escapism it offers. I devoured it in days and at the end, I seriously sat with my mouth open after finishing it. On a bus. I’m assuming my face looked like this (O_O)

An excellent YA thriller with a great cast and a shocking final twist that installs itself in your brain and won’t let go until you see it through. A genuinely jaw-hanging-open book.
