The Wake-Up Call, by Beth O’Leary - Kate

The last half of this book only took me days to read, as opposed to the months it normally takes for me to finish a book. That is a high commendation in itself! The Wake-Up call is by no means life changing high literature, but by god was it entertaining.

We follow Izzy and Lucas, hotel employees who are constantly at each other’s throats, as they endeavour to keep their failing hotel running over the festive period. There’s just enough fluffy Christmas content to warm your heart, but not so much that you feel like a criminal for reading it at any other time of year. There is forest scenery, cliché enemies-to-lovers plot points, and enough miscommunication to make you want to scream at the pages. Oh! And it’s set locally- with the hotel being based in the New Forest with mentions of Brockenhurst, Winchester, and some very tense scenes at Bournemouth Airport.

If you want to be engrossed in a cosy rom-com this winter, look no further than The Wake-Up Call. Curl up with a cup of tea and let Beth O’Leary charm you.
