The Launch Party, by Lauren Forry - Nicola

Would you stay in a hotel, in a remote location if there was no one to attend to your every need? The only problem with saying no in this case is there was no way of returning home until someone somewhere said enough was enough.

This book isn’t a thriller per se, and isn’t really a detective novel either. It does however make you think; from the explanations given about each of the characters, to who was responsible for the events in the book.

I was drawn to the title of this book and was intrigued by what I might read about, but I initially found it difficult to read, and a bit uninspiring to be perfectly honest.

It is true to say that everyone had their own hidden agenda, which was trickled out during the pages of the book, but I have to say I was little underwhelmed by the ending. It didn’t explain what happened when the ship arrived to collect them, or if the ship arrived to collect them. What happened to the hotel going forward? Were there any more guests that experienced staying in the Hotel Artemis on the moon, or did it shut down after the first group’s complete disaster of an experience?

I have been left with a lot of unanswered questions, but I guess this means that it may have been left open for a sequel to emerge. Overall, there aren’t many books that I would give up reading, but if I had not been reviewing this book for a bookshop, I may have put it to one side.
