Morgan is my Name is an absolute triumph. It is such a beautiful, powerful, exquisite retelling of the life of Morgan le Fay, half-sister to King Arthur. Sophie Keetch really brings Morgan to life in this story - the fire in her will not be diminished. I was intrigued to learn Morgan is traditionally portrayed as a villain, as I absolutely adored her character in this book. She is a force to be reckoned with - loyal, strong willed, fierce, stubborn, and determined.
We witness how the death of her father; the forced remarriage of her mother to the conniving Uther Pendragon; finding out what it is to love, and how she is forced to live are events that conspire to shape Morgan into the woman she becomes, and perhaps always was meant to be.
Magic, love, friendship, brutality, betrayal, hatred, cruelty, longing, and the celebration of womanhood are beautifully explored. This book is an absolute joy to read and wonderfully evocative. Words cannot do justice to how good this book is - all I can say is you simply just have to read it!
It is fantastic that there will be more books to follow. I cannot wait to read the rest of Morgan's story. For now though, this one gets 10 stars, and more if I could give them. Highly recommended indeed.
