Monster in the Woods, by Dave Shelton - Louis, aged 9. Winton Primary

I loved this book!

It’s really fun and exciting.

In this book you meet the Carter family, then the daughter (Frith) and the dad need to go into the city to do some jobs. To get there they have to move from the forest, through the desert and then they finally get to the city. They do some jobs there and get paid in wonderful gold bars.

This book is full of adventure, mystery and friendship. It has a really surprising ending, it taught me to not judge a book by its cover (except this one, because the cover is great!)

My favourite character is the big head that they meet in the middle of the desert – he is really funny and he’s just a giant head poking out of the sand.

The pictures on this book really bring the story to life and helped to spark my imagination.

My favourite part is right at the end of the book, when the monster is fighting Spuggy (Frith’s little brother).

***Spoiler *** during this fight you also find out that the Monster is really Spuggy’s imaginary friend that he has had for years.

The biggest 5 stars that I have ever given!
