How to Winter by Kari Liebowitz - Anabel

I really loved this book! It was entertaining, thought-provoking and interactive.

With 'How To Winter', Kari Leibowitz explores the multi-faceted nature of winter, how winter is embraced and celebrated across the globe, and how shifting one's mindset regarding winter - from one of trepidation and inherent doom and gloom to excitement about the unique opportunities that winter brings - is key to thriving during the winter months. Leibowitz takes the time to discuss how winter can benefit and is essential for maintaining animal and plant life globally, as well as highlighting the threat to life posed by climate change and global warming.

Something I particularly enjoyed about this book is the narrative around being intentional with your time and enjoying every moment for what it is, rather than focusing on what it is not. In other words, don't mope about wishing winter would end already (that's wishing away a quarter of your year!), but spend this time resting more and embracing slow or cosy hobbies. Maybe invest in some seasonal home décor or winter clothes that keep you warm and make you feel good! Then wrap up warm and enjoy a fresh winter walk and appreciate nature. Helpfully, Kari has included a few suggestions of positive actions we can adopt over the winter months at the end of each chapter, many of which I intend to try and some of which I already swear by (Turn that big light off! Dim and cozy lighting every day <3)

If this premise sounds interesting to you but, like me, you're slightly intimidated by non-fiction books and the brain-power often required to read and understand them, I would highly recommend this book to you! In my opinion, Leibowitz' writing reads almost like a fiction book - it's easy to understand, flows beautifully, and it captured and kept my attention throughout!
