How I Won a Nobel Prize, Julius Taranto - Brian
Something kept me reading this book to the end even though its full of intellectual references I didn't know. Some I googled quite excitedly; others I decided didn't matter (or my phone was too far away to bother).
At the centre of this intriguing story is a science digital coder and her husband who submit themselves to life on a intellectually superior but dystopian island so that she can work on a planet-saving research project. I felt invested in the project and this couple's relationship but the vaguely prophetic world they inhabited left me feeling uneasy.
I think I should have felt something greater than "uneasy" but somehow this book didn't take me there. Maybe it was my inferior intellect.
