A Pirate’s Life For Tea, by Rebecca Thorne - Jasmin

“A Pirate’s Life For Tea” by Rebecca Thorne is a cosy fantasy following Kianthe - the mage of ages - and her fiancé, Reyna. While their story did start in the first book of the series, “There's No Treason Without Tea”, this book can be read as a standalone.

Our main characters share the point of view of the book with Bobbie - a constable trying to prove herself by capturing a pirate - and Serina, said pirate, and Bobbie's best friend. All four characters get forced into a pirate heist, not for jewels or gems, but food that the Diarn of the area is selling to the highest bidder, rather than share with his starving people.

This book is a fun, cosy romance with more at stake than usual in this genre. There are fight scenes, kidnapping, and lot of bad puns. Oh, and three missing dragon eggs that mean Kianthe and Reyna's hometown could go up in dragon flames at any moment.

The magic system and characteristics of some of the side characters are simplistic but adds to the easy nature of the book. This book is for those who enjoy cosy fantasy romances such as Sorcery and Stones by S.R Meadows or any TJ Klune story.
